Curriculum Systems Manager

Nova Pioneer is looking for a superstar Curriculum Systems Manager who will work under the direction of the Director of Elementary Education. The Curriculum Systems Manager will develop and manage robust systems and processes for the production, curation, evaluation, and sharing of curriculum resources for Nova Pioneer pre- and primary schools.  These resources are researched and developed by our learning designers and educators, and include curriculum and lesson plans, learning centres and games, instructional guides and documentation of investigation, and more.  

Additionally, the Curriculum Systems Manager will lead the analysis of student data and other evidence of student growth, including working with Nova Pioneer academic leaders to develop methodologies for evaluating student growth and mastery across the all three dimensions of Nova Pioneer’s Student Competency Framework: Thought Leadership, Collaborative Leadership, and Self Determination.  The Curriculum Systems Manager will have an eye toward developing approaches that are scalable and replicable as we grow into an organisation with over a hundred schools across the African continent.   

For candidates with excellent team management capabilities and experience, the role will include managing a team of curriculum developers.  For candidates who do not yet have this management experience, the role will be an associate position.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Systems development and curriculum resource management:

  • Design and build a curriculum management system to serve as a highly organised and interactive catalogue of all curriculum resources such as lesson plans, assessment rubrics, templates, etc.
  • Curate resources and create standardised curriculum resource templates to be used by multiple users across multiple school locations
  • Develop a system that allows for effective collaboration such that users can provide ongoing feedback on documents for resource iteration and improvement
  • Create an instruction manual and coordinate training for users across the organisation
  • Provide functional and technical support to users
  • Manage user access, permissions and responsibilities
  • Codify systems and processes to ensure they are replicable across multiple schools
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of all curriculum resources and records and implement checkpoints to ensure proper use of the system by users
  • Edit and review curriculum documents
  • Coordinate, develop and publish the curriculum and scheduling timelines, due dates, and deadlines
  • Work with Teachers and Deans to understand curriculum and classroom requirements to align with budget

Academic Analytics and Assessment:

  • Develop systems and processes for gathering, analysing and reporting of student data so that instructional content and delivery techniques can be adjusted accordingly
  • Implement NWEA MAP data analytics and report student assessment results to School Leaders, Deans and Teachers
  • Design systems and processes to provide Teachers, Deans and School Leaders with evidence of student competency, growth and mastery
  • Develop an assessment mechanism(s) and dashboards/reports for grades 000-6 students aligned to a Junior Student Competency Framework
  • Design and develop a system or instrument for the measurement and evaluation of student culture across schools

Curriculum Development Team Management:

  • Manage and coach team of curriculum developers to produce high quality scopes of work, lesson plans and learning resources to enable classroom practice
  • Develop a high performing team that lives Nova Pioneer’s culture principles
  • Provide clarity, support & development, and accountability and acknowledgement to your team of curriculum developers, following the practices expected of great Nova Pioneer managers
  • Gather feedback from our schools and educators to improve the work of your team
  • Quality assure the work of the curriculum developers you manage

 

ABOUT YOU

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • You are highly analytical, creative and structured in your thinking
  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management and Design, Data Analytics, or related fields and/or have professional experience in one or more of these fields
  • You have two or more years working in a high performing environment
  • Experience working in an education environment and/or curriculum development is ideal but not essential
  • You take a design thinking approach to problems and ensure that the user is at the heart of your solutions
  • You take a systems-thinking approach to your work - you are able to bring many process elements together to create a holistic and harmonious system
  • You have strong project management skills and you are able to coordinate and manage many moving pieces
  • You have led teams and coached individuals to achieve results. People love working with you and for you
  • You are a stickler for details and ensure that you are thorough and accurate in all you do
  • You love a challenge and get excited about the prospect of tackling tough problems
  • You have a strong affinity for technology and are able to troubleshoot a multitude of technical platforms, systems and software including but not limited to Google Classroom, Canvas, etc.
