Learning Designer

Nova Pioneer is looking for superstar Learning Designers to design enquiry-based lessons for English or Mathematics. You will drive the design of assessments, unit plans, lessons, and projects that go far beyond the core standards. About the Role

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Notate the scope and sequence of curriculum design across subjects and grades
  • Create lesson plans with an enquiry focus aligned to relevant curricula
  • Ensure constructivist theory is evident in learning design and lesson plans
  • Assimilate a variety of thinking routines and skills into the design and plans
  • Design templates and documents for ease of use by teachers across grades
  • Plan with socio-construction of knowledge with student collaboration and group work in mind
  • Develop technology rich lesson designs and plans
  • Develop and design documentation panels to show student thinking and enquiry
  • Use constructive feedback in reflection, redesign and recreation of plans and documents

 

About You

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • You have an understanding and experience of curriculum design and development
  • You have experience with or understanding of various curricula - experience with  Cambridge objectives is ideal but not essential
  • You have an excellent understanding of enquiry-based and project-based learning. Experience with these learning approaches is ideal but not essential
  • You believe in the the Reggio Emilia principles, an educational philosophy based on the image of the child, where the teacher is the listener, observer and researcher alongside the child
  • You have experience with or an understanding of the 5 E’s of planning for learning, an instructional model based on the constructivist approach to learning, which says that learners build or construct new ideas on top of their old ideas
  • You have exposure to, understanding of or experience of various Thinking Routines such as Harvard Making Thinking Visible
  • You have a constructivist and socio-constructivist perspective on learning
  • You have experience with the development of the scope and sequence of learning in grades and phases
  • You have an ability to design grade by grade curricula which offers a learning spiral with appropriate conceptual development
  • You can design templates, forms and other aids that facilitate teaching and learning
  • You have an appreciation for and fully utilise the feedback cycle involved in lesson plan development
  • You are a systems thinker and are adept at planning and execution
  • You have strong writing and editing skills
  • You are extremely organised and have an eye for detail
  • You have strong collaborative and communication skills to work across schools
  • You are able to use technology to enable the development and creation of documentation for lesson planning
  • You have some classroom teaching experience

 

Requirements for Mathematics Learning Designer:

  • You have a Mathematics post-graduate qualification
  • You are a Mathematics specialist across Junior School
  • Experience or understanding of  Singapore Maths is an advantage but not essential
  • You are familiar with Cambridge Maths objectives or are excited about learning them
  • You take a concrete, pictorial and abstract approach to Maths lesson design
  • Meta-cognition and shared thinking are an essential element of your lesson design
  • You have experience in design and development of enquiry-based Maths lessons
  • You have experience in assessment for learning and of learning
  • You take an integrated approach to the design and scope of lesson sequencing

 

Requirements for English Language Learning Designer:

  • You have an English language qualification (E)
  • You have English language specialist teaching experience across grades
  • You are familiar with a variety of reading programs across grades
  • Experience with vocabulary building (TEFL) is a plus
  • You have experience with spelling program design aligned to emergent spelling and familiarity of THRASS is an advantage but not essential
  • You have knowledge of phonemic, phonological and language development in children
  • You get excited about creating English comprehension lesson plans
  • You love writing and sharing the skills of the written word across  a variety of genres
  • You have experience in visual literacy (media and electronic)
  • You take a whole language approach to language curriculum design
